Frequently asked questions.
How far in advance should I book?+
For June–September and December–February travel, we recommend six to nine months. Gorilla permits sell fastest — we hold advance inventory but cannot guarantee same-month availability in peak season.
Do I need any vaccinations?+
Yellow fever is required for entry to both Uganda and Rwanda — bring the yellow card. Anti-malarials are advised. Consult a travel clinic 6–8 weeks before departure.
What currency should I bring?+
USD in clean bills dated 2013 or later. Cards work in Kampala and Kigali; cash is essential in the parks. We provide a currency briefing pre-arrival.
Is Uganda safe for tourists?+
Yes — Uganda has been peaceful for tourism for decades, and the national parks are among the best-managed in Africa. Our guides carry a satellite phone and we maintain a 24/7 duty phone during your trip.
What visa do I need?+
Uganda: online e-Visa (USD 50). Rwanda: visa-free for most nationalities or USD 50 on arrival. The East Africa Tourist Visa (USD 100) covers Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya for 90 days — worthwhile for multi-country trips.
Can I combine Uganda and Rwanda in one trip?+
Yes — we do this often. The most efficient route uses the Cyanika border crossing between Bwindi and Volcanoes NP, or the Katuna crossing. Zenvoy handles both sides.
What is your cancellation policy?+
Deposits (30%) are non-refundable once gorilla permits are purchased — the parks do not refund permits. Balance payments follow a sliding scale detailed on your invoice. We strongly recommend travel insurance covering trip cancellation.
Do you offer solo traveller pricing?+
Yes. All our itineraries have a single-supplement rate — usually 25–35% above the sharing price. Solo travellers are welcome and often join our small-group departures.
